MINUTES OF MEETING HELD 6TH JUNE 2016
PRESENT: Priscilla, Douglas (Chair in Geoff’s absence), Tom, Isobel, Eileen, Rhona, Kim and Charlie
APOLGIES: Geoff, Gavin, Ron & Elvira.
MATTERS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES
Charlie wanted to clarify – Regarding Facebook, he said that he would not have it on his machine as he was connected to a server and would not risk putting anything into the server which could be ‘dodgy’. He could however put a link to a Maxton Parish Facebook page onto the site for any other users and ‘someone else would need to set it up and run it’.
The balance of funds per the bank statement is £8,302.14.
There was notification of the BACS payment from Scottish Borders Council for the hire of the hall for the recent Scottish Parliament Election.
Information provided by Gavin indicates that Maxton 21’s application for charitable status is still being considered by the Charity Regulator.
The question of paying the water rate’s bill for the hall was raised. Douglas said that the ‘Bridge’ were still advising us not to pay this. It was agreed the bill will be left until the Group hears back re the charitable status.
Geoff has the form to fill in and take to the bank at Newtown. Two people need to sign so that correspondence can go to Kim’s address.
• Hall bookings are going O.K.
• The next meeting of The Central Borders Federation of Village Halls is on 15th June at Darnick. This will be in the form of the A.G.M. as well as a meeting. All fundraising applications to be in by 13th June.
• PAT testing is done annually – to check when this was last done.
• Bracket on speakers still needs to be checked.
Duck Race – Rhona indicated that she and Geoff would still be happy to organise this event if they could get some additional support. The 20th August was a possible date – Tom said he would run the B.B.Q. Rhona and Geoff would organise the sheets for the ducks, which can be bought either prior to the event or on the day. Arrangements to be finalised at the August meeting (1st August).
Geoff will invite our charity along, the ducks will be £2 each and a third of what is made will go as prize money.
Maxton Meets – Priscilla is still working on the next season’s programme, but would welcome any ideas for speakers.
Car Treasure Hunt – this has been put on the ‘back burner’, and it was considered that it might possibly to go ahead in early/late autumn.
Pub Night – (to celebrate Tom & Isobel’s departure) There is still no date yet.
Music Night – Ron is seeing to this.
Hogmanay – Ronnie & Shona from Maxton have agreed to play at this event.
All sponsors have now paid. The bill is now in and the cheque signed by Kim and Isobel.
Ton Class magazine to go into the file. Maxton is still involved and is the only village left in the Affiliation. Two former sailors are still in touch.
The next meeting will be held on Monday 1st August.
