Maxton 21 Charity Duck Race

At 3pm this afternoon, 99 ducks set off in lovely warm weather to make their way down the Kelly Burn to raise cash for the Maxton 21 Charity for 2015 "Border Search and Rescue Unit".
Twenty minutes later all 99 had reached their goal, with the winner being Number 97 "owned" by A Coia from Glasgow (20), with Number 3 being Maxton owned by Isobel Veitch (10). Third prize has gone all the way to New Zealand and Jill Denoon (5).

No ducks were injured in the racing, and a fun time was had by all with Kevin and Brian from BSARU ensuring the safety of the enthusiastic spectators.

Thanks to the Duckmeisters Geoff and Rhona and to all those who helped in any way.

After the racing, everyone repaired to the Village Hall where Tom had the BBQ waiting to burn anything which got near it.

As a result of the day the total raised for the Unit was added to by 96 (131 taken in and 35 given out in prize money).
