Minutes of Maxton 21 Meeting held on Tuesday 9th June 2015

Present: Tom, Charlie, Elvira, Eileen, Ron, Jeff, Rhona

Apologies: Isobel, Douglas, Priscilla, Jimmy

In Jimmy’s absence, Tom took the Chair.

Previous Minutes:
The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as a true record.

Treasurer’s Report:
In Isobel’s absence, Tom presented the monthly summary of accounts.
The balance at the time of the meeting stands at £8014.32, including the monies in the Charity account £805.40.

Past Events:
Tom’s 1000k Walk was successfully completed in 32 days, a truly awesome accomplishment.
Coffee Morning for Maxton 21 Charity for 2015: surprisingly financially successful considering the disappointing numbers through the door. Thanks to all who contributed, particularly to those who baked to make the sales table viable.

Future Events:
Saturday 20th June: Duck Race and Barbecue

Arrangements as adverised with meeting at Church Car Park at 3pm for Duck Race followed by Barbecue at the Hall thereafter (4pm app). Jeff and Rhona setting up Duck Race and Tom lighting barbecue. BYO Food and Drink. Border Search and Rescue in attendance. To widen sales of Duck Race entries, number sheets distributed. Tom and Charlie to investigate supplier of new grill sheet for barbecue. Paper plates to be purchased.
Maxton Meets: Speakers for the new series of 6 talks over the winter currently being confirmed. Details will be on site when ready.

Hall Report:
PAT Testing to be arranged. Douglas to be asked for details of the operator from last year.
External Paintwork: Door to be stripped and painted. BRC has issued order to Stuart Chalmers of Kelso to do the work.
Book Stall in Ante-room: Paperbacks on shelves may be taken for a donation to our Charity for 2015. Collection can on table – Suggested 50p donation.

Web Site:
Account from Bordernet for 2015-16 received and paid. Everything working well on site.

Neighbourhood Watch:
A large number of “Be Aware” notices for the site from the agencies. All added to the site.

HMS MAXTON:
Dave and Joe, and wives, Heather and Liz, intend coming to make annual visit and Charlie is currently fixing a date.

Date of Next Meeting: Tuesday 18th August in Maxton Village Hall at 7.30pm
