Minutes of Maxton 21 Meeting held on Tuesday 21st April 2015

Present: Jimmy, Kim, Charlie, Priscilla, Douglas, Tom, Isobel, Jeff, Rhona, Elvira and Ron.

Apologies: Eileen and Janet

Previous Minutes: An amendment was made to the total still to be paid to Murray & Burrell which should read £3600, not £3800. The rest of the minute was approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Isobel presented a summary of the present state of the accounts which stand at £6659.90, with four cheques to be added which will bring the current balance to £6944.90.
Membership of The Bridge has been renewed for 2015-16.

Future Events:
Saturday 23rd May - Coffee Morning for Border Search & Rescue Unit

10am. £2 adults, schoolchildren free.
Set up on Friday at 7pm.
Helpers: Ron – kitchen, Elvira-waiting, Charlie – plants, Jimmy – raffle, Isobel – door, Eileen & Janet – sales table.
Charity to have an information table.
Ducks (£2) to be sold for the Duck Race and Barbecue to be held on Saturday 20th June.
Ron to buy milk and Coffee, Elvira to buy biscuits and juice.
Donations for the sales table and raffle welcomed.

Saturday 20th June – Barbecue and Duck Race.
Duck Race at 3pm, Barbecue at 4pm.
Duck Race - meet at Church Car Park. 99 Ducks available for purchase, before and on the day. Prizes awarded to total 25% of take.
Barbecue at Hall – Maxton 21 providing the barbecue equipment and those attending provide their own food and drink. Weather permitting, play park can be used, indoor games for children if wet.

Hall Report:
Still awaiting completion of audio work.
Availability of keys for General Election Polling Day clarified.

Web Site:
Sponsor money currently being collected.

Neighbourhood Watch:
Quiet within the parish, but large amount of dishonest dealings appearing on internet. Details provided by Police Scotland, Fraud Alert and Neighbourhood Watch Scotland are posted in “Our Community” section of website.

New “Ton Talk” posted on Board.

Any Other Business:
Maxton Meets

Priscilla and Eileen have been planning a new series for the coming winter season with 6 talks held on the second Mondays of the month in September, October, November, February, March and April. They have contacted potential speakers and are developing the programme. Jeff has an input into the discussion regarding a Cross Border, Archaeological based evening.

We wish Tom Bon Voyage on his long walk which begins on 28th April and look forward to him giving us an account of his adventures at a Spanish Evening in the Autumn.
Regular updates will be posted on the website.
Tom expressed concern over the length of time it was taking for the Charity to set up an online donation site, thus holding up the production of advertising posters. He will contact the group again.

The next meeting of Maxton 21 will be held on Tuesday 9th June in Maxton Village Hall at 7.30pm.
