Minutes of Maxton 21 Meeting held on Monday 13th January 2014

Minutes of Maxton 21 Meeting held on Monday 13th January 2014

Present: Jimmy, Charlie, Tom, Elvira, Isobel, Douglas and Janet

Apologies: Priscilla, Eileen.

Previous Minutes:
The minute of the meeting of 4th November 2013 was accepted as an accurate record.

Treasurer’s Report:
The Accounts at 31st December stood at £6069.09 and at the date of the meeting at £6546.14. These figures include the total for the Maxton 21 Charity for 2013 of £1005.03. The Charity total does not include the Just Giving payments of £288.75 already with the charity. The total raised for the Charity in 2013 was £1293.78, comfortably the largest total raised by Maxton 21 for any of its Annual Charities. Eileen, who put together a Christmas Hamper and held a draw, raised £144 from her work colleagues to boost the final total. She is asked to make arrangements for the handover of the cheque to the “Special Baby Unit of BGH” at a time convenient to both.
Licences for the playing of recorded music have been renewed.
The Maxton 21 Accounts for 2013 will be finalised and passed to the auditor for approval at the AGM in March.

Past Events:
Parish Christmas Cards
Thanks to Felicity for her sponsorship of the Parish Christmas Card and to those who delivered them to every house in the parish.
Parish Get Together
Small numbers as usual but good to see new faces there. Donations to the Charity Fund.
Village Carol Singing
Well supported with excellent turnout, good mulled wine and sausages on sticks, and very generous donations. £131.33 collected for the Charity. Thanks to everyone involved.
Hogmanay Ceilidh.
Numbers jumped at the last minute, and 30 adults and 7 children had a very enjoyable evening. Everyone rallied round with decorations and food. Some enquirers had been put off by the lack of live music. Rethink for next year? Financially this could be viable with the numbers present this year.

Hall Report:
Douglas reported that Border Sound still had not completed the final part of the repair and checking of the sound system, hence their failure to send in an account. This should be done asap.
Tom queried the strange noises emanating from the cistern of the disabled toilet. The workings do not seem to have been affected but they are rather earsplitting.
