Minutes of Maxton 21 Meeting held on Monday 25th March 2013

Present: Jimmy, Janet, Elvira, Isobel, Douglas, Eileen, Charlie, Priscilla, Tom.

Previous Minutes:
The minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 24th January 2013 were accepted as an accurate record.

Treasurer’s Report:
Isobel informed the meeting that the account balance was £4993.89.

Past Events:
Burns Supper:
An excellent evening’s entertainment. Thanks to all those, seen and unseen, who made it all happen. Thanks, in particular, to our guests – Grant Lees, Barry & Trudy Cash and Derek Inglis and his team for the spirit of fun they brought to the evening.

Maxton Meets Gavin Yuill: A very interesting and educational talk demonstrating how modern techniques in architecture and building can be used to improve and upgrade older properties, and create 21st century homes in seaside and urban areas.

Northern Cross Pilgrims visit was called off as they were short of numbers and had joined up with other groups.

Future Events:
Thursday 11th April – Rob Nicolson “School Night Tour”
Rob Nicholson will be singing in Maxton Village Hall
7pm till 9pm. £4 at the door. BYOB. Light Refreshments. Raffle.
Monies raised will be shared between Maxton Village Hall and the Maxton 21 "Charity for 2013" the Special Care Baby Unit at Borders General Hospital.
Eileen, Ann, and Janet organising light refreshments, Jimmy to do raffle, Charlie on door.
Set up 6.25pm.

Saturday 18th May – Coffee Morning, with Stalls for Hall Funds.
10am. £2/£1 (child).
Produce, Plants, Raffle plus two crafts (to be arranged).

Hall Report:
The new kitchen vinyl floor covering has been fitted.
Contact has been made with a sound specialist who will visit later this week to look at the speaker system and the hearing loop.
An electrician has been contacted about the PAT testing.
Investigations into replacing the small card tables resulted in the discovery that modern ones, at a reasonable cost, were larger than the present ones and would not fit the trolleys.
Tom suggested that tidying up the existing ones might be possible and will investigate and experiment further.

New copy of Ton Talk arrived
