Minutes of Maxton 21 Meeting held on Thursday 24th January 2013
Present:Jimmy, Douglas, Charlie, Priscilla, Tom, Eileen.
Apologies: Elvira, Isobel, Ann, Janet, Felicity.
The minute of the meeting of 17th December 2012 was accepted as a correct record.
The statement of current finances showed that the account stands at £4920.21.
Annual accounts for 2012 are currently being prepared for sending to the auditor.
Monday 7th January - Maxton meets Bobby Douglas – interesting and unusual talk, well presented with good photographs. Disappointing numbers.
Saturday 2nd February - Burns Supper:
Catering arrangements finalised. Current total attending 30 and rising.
Thomson collecting hot box on Friday and bringing to the hall.
Hall to be set up on Saturday morning at 10am.
Monday 11th February - Maxton meets Gavin Yuill.
Ron and Ann doing set up and teas.
Monday 11th March – Maxton Meets Donald Gordon.
Saturday 23rd March – Northern Cross Pilgrims.
Monday 25th March – Annual General Meeting, followed by normal meeting.
Douglas reported that he is about to contact an expert regarding the service and repair of the audio system
Keith Braithwaite to be contacted to confirm PAT testing.
Kitchen flooring to be replaced with new vinyl. Charlie to contact The Kelso Carpet Shop for an estimate.
Replacement of cooker – cancelled - decided that as the cooker is used so little, it is not worth purchasing a replacement. Keep the one we have.
Infra Red wall heater to be bought for the kitchen.
The rates for hire of the hall will remain unchanged for 2013.
Charlie to research replacement card table suppliers.
Nothing to report.
No incidents and the No Cold Calling has not been tested.
New Ton Class magazine but no other contact.
Any Other Business:
Letter of Thanks from our “Charity for 2012” Margaret Kerr Unit.
Cheque for £600 was handed over by Jimmy to Alison Smail of the Charity on Wednesday 9th January.
Maxton 21 Charity for 2013 -
Eileen presented information about her suggestion for our charity for this year – “The Special Care Baby Unit “ at Borders General Hospital. All donations are used to update equipment in the unit where required. The eight bedded unit looks after babies born prior to 32 weeks gestation or older ones in need of specialised care.
After discussion it was unanimously agreed that this should be our chosen charity for 2013.
Suggestions for events to raise funds for the charity will be greatly appreciated.

The next regular meeting will follow the Annual General Meeting to be held on Monday 25th March in Maxton Village Hall at 7.30pm.
