Previous Minutes: Minutes of the meeting held on Monday 24th September were accepted as an accurate record.

Treasurer’s Report: Balance in hand is now £5351.78 after purchase of the 40 chairs costing £1175.52.

Past Events:
Maxton Meets Norman Jarvis.
Very informative and enjoyable evening, much appreciated by the 22 persons present. Amazing film footage.

Future Events:
Saturday 3rd November – Charity Coffee Morning and Craft Fair.

Maxton Village Hall 10am till 12 noon.
Prize Draw
Admission £2/£1 (child)

Arrangements – Set up at 8.30am. Table cloths to be used.
Door – Isobel (to provide float)
Prize Draw - Jimmy (4 books) – different colours!
All other helpers as and where needed.

Monday November 12th 2012 - Maxton Meets Alastair Innes
He will give an illustrated talk about his climb of Mount Kilimanjaro and visit to local safari parks.
Maxton Village Hall at 7.30pm. All welcome Admission £1.50 (inc tea/coffee and biscuits)
Jimmy and Janet to set up and arrange.

Sunday 9th December – Parish Get-together
Festive Get-together for Maxton Parish Residents.
Maxton Village Hall at 3pm. Festive cheer and nibbles. BYO
All ages welcome.
Elvira - Shortbread , Ann – Gluten Free, Children’s – Felicity, Eileen – Vol au vents, Isobel – Mince Pies and Sausage Rolls, Priscilla – Mulled Wine? BYO thereafter.

Sunday 23rd December – Carol Singing
Meet in Car Park at 6.30pm.
Bring torch or lantern. Carol sheets provided. Clothing appropriate to weather and occasion.
Collection going to Maxton 21 "Charity for 2012" the Margaret Kerr Palliative Care Centre at the BGH.

Hogmanay 31st December – Hogmanay Ceilidh
Maxton Village Hall, with Steve and Isobel.
7.30pm for 8pm Light supper. BYO.

Monday 7th January 2013 - Maxton Meets Bobby Douglas
Bobby will give an illustrated talk - “Border Memories”
Maxton Village Hall at 7.30pm All welcome Admission £1.50 (inc tea/coffee and biscuits)

Saturday (Date to be confirmed) – Burns Supper
Maxton Village Hall
7.30pm for 8pm. Informal evening with limit of 40 tickets. BYO.

As entertainers not available on original date, suggested a move to either 2nd or 9th February. Charlie to contact.

Hall Report:
Water Charges:
Matter once again resolved, hopefully finally, with another letter of apology from MD of Business Stream.
Chairs: 40 new (and very comfortable) chairs delivered and now in use.
Speaker Replacement and Equipment Testing: still to find electrician to carry out work.
Hall Committee: it was agreed that as the membership of the Hall Sub-Committee had fallen to just two, the main committee should carry out the role of the Sub-Committee in future.

Web Site: Nothing to report.

Neighbourhood Watch: No events to report. New Community Police Officer to be appointed to replace PC Lorraine Matthews.

Cold Calling: All materials delivered, no reports of cold callers in the areas affected.

HMS MAXTON: Short note and photograph in current “Ton Talk” recording the visit of Dave and Joe and their wives for their annual visit.

Any Other Business:
Christmas Card: Felicity has designed and produced a draft of the Christmas card showing all Maxton 21 events in the Parish, for distribution to all households.
BorderEvents: It was agreed that a subscription (£10) be taken out as we use the magazine as one of our main advertising outlets.
Public Performance Licence: A letter requesting information for the new combined licence has been received and will be completed and returned. The cost of the licence seems to be based on annual income.

Date of Next Meeting:
The next meeting of Maxton 21 will be held in Maxton Village Hall on Monday 17th December at 7.30pm. All residents of the Parish are welcome to attend.
