Minutes of the Meeting of Maxton 21 held on Monday 20th February 2012
Present: Jimmy, Charlie, Elvira, Isobel, Eileen, Priscilla.
Apologies: Ann, Thomson, Douglas.
Previous Minutes: The minutes of the meeting of Tuesday 10th January 2012 were accepted as being an accurate record.
Treasurer’s Report: Isobel presented the monthly summary for the year to date. The balance shown is £8832.43, but with the account from Oliver (Joiner) for the work done in the kitchen having been presented the balance in fact is £4111.57 less. As the books are currently in the hands of the auditor in readiness for the AGM, the payment to Oliver will be slightly delayed. The sum in the account is therefore £4720.86.
Burns Supper: An excellent evening’s entertainment, much enjoyed by all present. Numbers (28) right for the evening. Thanks to Wendy and Mike, Derek, Joyce and Stuart for their superb contributions. Quantities of food about right; perhaps too much cheese.
Maxton Meets - Rowley Duncan: Superb talk, very well attended (41).
Maxton Meets - Kate Warner: Monday 12th March. Charlie will set hall, Jimmy look after teas.
AGM of Maxton 21 and Maxton Neighbourhood Watch:Monday 19th March, Maxton Village Hall 7.30pm.
Charlie will prepare draft Annual Report for Jimmy in advance.
Coffee Morning and Plant Sale for Hall Funds: Saturday 19th May.
Provisional date for Strawberry Tea to be cancelled. Consideration to be given to raising funds for Maxton 21 “Charity for 2012” Margaret Kerr Fund by other events. Car boot Sale tables in summer, “Everything Apple” event in autumn. Ideas still wanted.
Hall Report: The account from Oliver (Joiner) has been received. Questioned whether the water heater problem has been dealt with. Check with Douglas Oliver.
Ante-room ceiling being repaired this week, then up to SBC to arrange the dates for the re-painting of both ceilings.
New cooker and floor covering to be sourced for the kitchen.
CBAVH meeting queried licences for music. We are up to date. John Brown to come to inspect the work in the kitchen.
All working and up to date. Recent guestbook entry from Colin Sykes formerly of the village.
Neighbourhood Watch: Nothing further to report. Co-ordinator attended the meeting with the Community Police Constable on Sunday 19th February.
HMS MAXTON: Latest copy of “Ton Class News” in Hall. Two books about the Minesweepers to be published in the summer.
Letter of thanks from Borders Holiday Group for our efforts and contribution to their funds as a result of them being our “Charity for 2011”.
