Anyone who thought that Siberia was a huge area of nothingness should have been in Maxton Village Hall last evening when Ian Brown took us along with him on his four week stay in Southern Siberia. His travelogue showed us his geographer background, with the lives of the people as they have to accept the climate and landscape into which they are born, being uppermost in his mind. The history of the region and the suffering of the people over the last century all combined to make this a fascinating talk, by a natural communicator. Excellent pictures and not a note in sight.
Many thanks, Ian.
