Maxton Met - Gordon Jackson

The audience in Maxton Village Hall, last evening, was enthralled to see and hear about the work of the Border Holiday Group and their trip in the Jumbulance to Germany.
After explaining the philosophy and the organisation of the Group, Gordon, assisted by Lorna, took us from Hawick to Berlin with the group of disabled people who were going on holiday to a hotel at Rheinsberg, one hour north of the city, which has been designed especially for wheelchair users.

What came over most during the talk was the total commitment of the Group, all of whom are volunteers, to the invaluable work they are doing. In this time of cutbacks and economic squeezes to hear of this work, supported only by voluntary contributions, with the members continually working away to raise the 20,000, which each trip costs, is heart-warming.

We wish them every success and have decided that the "Maxton 21 Charity for 2011" will be "The Border Holiday Group"

We trust that you will support us and them to allow their magnificent work to continue.
