Minutes of Maxton 21 Meeting held on Tuesday 27th April 2010

Previous Minutes
The minutes of the meeting of Monday 15th March were accepted as a correct record.

Treasurer's Report
Isobel presented detailed accounts for March and April (to date) to the meeting.
The current balance stands at 6866.68.

Past Events
No report as no events have been held since the last meeting.

Future Events
Coffee Morning and Plant Sale Saturday 22nd May at 10am.
Set up on Friday evening at 7pm.
Plant collection for Vera on Saturday morning.
Duties for the event arranged viz:
Door - Isobel
Plants Charlie and Vera
Raffle Douglas
Stalls Eileen and Priscilla
Kitchen and Waiting Elvira, Thomson and Ann
Priscilla will contact Southern Reporter.
Isobel will arrange float.
Charlie will distribute posters.
Elvira will purchase milk and other supplies, if needed.
Charlie will contact Borders Macmillan Centre about a representative being present.

Strawberry Tea.
Eileen will co-ordinate and organise/finalise once the strawberry picking season dates are known..

Hall Report
Hall Committee to meet on Monday 17th May at 7pm in the Hall.
As funds are relatively healthy, various suggestions were made regarding improvements to the comfort of those using the Hall including replacing chairs and small tables. The difficulties of storage were raised.
Concern was raised over the present condition of the kitchen and its facilities, and ways of improving the situation discussed.
These matters were referred to the Hall Committee. They will bring forward suggestions to the next meeting.
The replacement of table covers was discussed and Priscilla agreed to look further into the provision of wipeable covers.
The Entertainment Licence has been renewed.
Fire extinguishers have been checked - one having been replaced.
A Fire Risk Assessment will need to be done by the Hall Committee.
The roof has been checked after the recent leak. Thought to be abnormal weather with snow having been driven up the corrugations and under the coping and having then melted.
Arrangements for Election Day on May 6th were agreed Charlie will open up for the delivery of voting booths, ensuring they are not put in place before the Pilates group have left. He will give key to Eileen on Wednesday. He will make key available for collection of booths after Polling Day.

Web Site
Working well. Sponsorship for next year is now coming in. Five have already paid and contact will be made with the remaining three.

Neighbourhood Watch
Recent happenings involving a resident of the village are in the hands of Lothian and Borders Police. Neighbourhood Watch has not been involved.

HMS Maxton
New edition of Ton Talk is available.

Any Other Business
Membership of The Bridge has been renewed.

Suggestion of an evening "Yesterday's Everyday Antiques" was taken forward.
Bring along your interesting items, let others have a look and discuss.
Valuation? Tea/Coffee. Entry cost to be decided.
Suggested date: Friday 1st October.

Date of Next Meeting
The next regular meeting of Maxton 21 will be held in Maxton Village Hall on Monday 26th July at 7.30pm.
