Minutes of Maxton 21 Meeting held on Tuesday 19th January 2010

This meeting replaces the one cancelled due to adverse weather last Tuesday.

Isobel, Thomson, Jimmy, Eileen, Charlie, Vera, Priscilla & Douglas.


Previous Minutes
The minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 15th December were accepted as being an accurate record.

Treasurer's Report
Isobel reported that the current balance of funds stands at 6487.23. The cheque for the Maxton 21 Charity for 2009 "BANG" of 505.99 is not included in the total. The cheque will be handed over in the near future.

Past Events
Carol Singing:
Pleasure was expressed at the excellent turnout and the generosity of those who contributed. Maxton 21 would also like to record its thanks to those who provide sustenance during the evening.
113.21 was collected for our charity for 2009.
Hogmanay: 40+ people came to Maxton Village Hall and enjoyed a Hogmanay ceilidh. It was particularly pleasing to have Steve back at the helm. Thanks must go to all those, seen and unseen, who contributed to the success of the evening.
Maxton Meets John Rogerson: Because of the horrendous snowfall prior to the meeting, it was decided to postpone John's visit. He has expressed a willingness to give his "Villages" talk at some convenient time in the future. This will be taken up.

Future Events
Burns Supper:
Saturday 30th January in Maxton Village Hall. 7.30pm for 8pm start.
Tickets 5 from Priscilla (01835 823392). Limit of 40.
Catering arrangements were finalised.
Hall to be set up at 7pm on the Friday night.

Maxton Meets Dr Michael Shallis:
Monday February 15th 2010 at 7.30pm in Maxton Village Hall
Dr Shallis will give a talk entitled "Climate Change - the Challenge of the Time".
Admission 1.50 (inc tea/coffee and biscuits)
All welcome.

Maxton Meets Douglas Methven:
Monday March 8th 2010 at 7.30pm in Maxton Village Hall.
Douglas will give an illustrated talk "Wildlife on Your Doorstep"
Admission 1.50 (inc tea/coffee and biscuits)

Annual General Meeting of Maxton 21 and Maxton Neighbourhood Watch:
Monday 15th March in Maxton Village Hall at 7.30pm.
All residents of the Parish are members of Maxton 21 and are entitled and encouraged to attend.

Maxton 21 Coffee Morning and Plant Sale:
Saturday 22nd May in Maxton Village Hall from 10am. Admission 2 adult and 1 child (includes tea/coffee and biscuits).
Plant and Produce stalls.
Proceeds to Hall funds.

Hall Report
Douglas reported that despite the severe frost no damage appears to have been done. The electric frost protection and pipe insulation have been successful.
Damage to the lock on the entrance gate was noticed and has been reported to SBC Estates.
Arrangements are still to be made for the removal of the gas heater in the ante-room. The feed to the old water heater will be capped and the pipework can then be removed.

Web Site
Charlie was able to report that the website was now back to normal with all parts working correctly.
A Seasonal Greeting from John and Jane Holliday had been received.

Date of Next Meeting:
The next meeting of Maxton 21 will be the AGM on 15th March in Maxton Village Hall at 7.30pm, which all residents of the Parish are encouraged to attend. This will be followed by the regular meeting.
