Maxton 21 Burns Supper 2009 - The Homecoming

Last evening, a party of 40 parishioners and friends enjoyed a Homecoming Burns Supper.
It was a great pleasure to listen to the Rev Haisley Moore giving the "Immortal Memory" in his own inimitable style, ably supported by Maxton-born Grant Lees' "Toast to the Lassies" and Christine Irvine's "Reply". Haisley took us on a tour of Edinburgh with his theme "The Band of Brothers".

The Selkirk Grace was given by Rev Sheila Moir, Minister of the Parish.
The haggis was carried by Tom Veitch and addressed by Thomson Irvine. A reply to that toast was read by Ron Collie.
The more formal part of the evening included Burns songs ably sung by Grant, accompanied by Molly Pringle on keyboard.
Richard Raw read a Sorley MacLean poem in Gaelic and Priscilla read "To a Mouse".

Thereafter, formality was laid aside and the floor was thrown open to the party.

Maxton 21 would like to thank all those whose efforts, seen and unseen made such an evening possible.
