Minutes of Maxton 21 Meeting held on Monday 1st December 2008

As Isobel was not present, there was no report.
Riddell Fiddles Concert – good turn out and well received by all. Financially worthwhile for Riddell Fiddles Vancouver Fund and for Maxton Village Hall.
Maxton Met Emma Emmerson – another outstanding Maxton Meets. Well attended and very informative.
7th December – Parish Social in the Hall.
2.30pm set up, 3pm start.
Priscilla to do mulled wine.
21st December – Carol Singing in Maxton Village.
Meet at the Car Park at 6.30pm.
Lanterns/torches would be useful, festive dress optional. Carol sheets are provided.
Rev Sheila Moir to be formally invited.
Refreshments at Elm Cottage afterwards, as usual.
31st December – Hogmanay.
Douglas to check on Public Performance Licence and arrange for one. Agreed that the event goes ahead without pre-arranged live performers, if there is a demand. Those requesting tickets will be informed of the situation.
12th January 2009 – Maxton Meets - Richard Smart.
Eileen is making the arrangements for Richard's visit.
31st January 2009 – Burns Night
Rev Sheila Moir to be invited to offer "The Grace".
Thomson to be invited to "Address the Haggis".
Haisley Moore has agreed to do "The Immortal Memory".
Grant Lees to be invited to make the toast "To the Lasses" and to give us a song or two.
Maximum 40 people, open to all.
Catering and costings to be finalised at the next meeting.
Grills to be fitted on balanced flue outlets.
Outside light and kitchen light have been repaired.
November - highest visitor figure for the year so far – 33992.

Any Other Business
Invitation to meet with representatives from Redpath and Smailholm to exchange thoughts on ways of increasing interest from the community in local events. To be taken forward by Priscilla, others to be informed when a meeting date is finalised.
