Minutes of Maxton 21 Meeting held on Monday 25th August 2008
in Maxton Village Hall at 7.30pm

In Jimmy's absence Thomson took the Chair.

Agreed as a correct record of the last meeting.
Isobel reported that the accounts now stood at £4850.59 with the payment for the disabled pathway having been made.
BBQ – was an enjoyable evening with 15 present..
Maxton Meets – the programme has now been published and the adverts placed in the appropriate publications and on websites. Priscilla will put each event into the Southern Reporter. The programme has been posted in St Boswells Post Office and copies will be placed elsewhere to ensure maximum coverage. Thomson will ensure that the Hall is open for the first speaker, Walter Elliot, on September 8th.
French Themed Evening – this has been postponed and will be re-scheduled at the next meeting.
Charity Quiz Night – details are on the website and will be in next month's church magazine as a date for the diary.
Thomson will contact The Bridge to ensure that the event appears on their website and can be seen by other members of CBAVH, who, hopefully, will be encouraged to send teams.
Jimmy has booked the quizmaster.
Other details will be arranged at the next meeting.
St Andrew's Night – some form of concert has been suggested and contacts will be made to find suitable groups. Small Hall Band will be contacted through Liz Marroni and enquiries made regarding the Fiddlers at Smailholm through Jimmy Nagle.
Disabled Path – This has now been completed and the bill paid. The fine quality of the work was commented on.
Cleaning – Eileen will contact the contract cleaners to get the "deep clean" done now that outside work is complete, and only painting is to be done indoors.
Hall Committee Meeting – to be arranged.
CBAVH – Visit to be made as a group to The Scottish Parliament. Maxton to be represented by Thomson and Christine.
"Down to Earth Health" has replaced "LTR" as sponsors of a page on the site. Changes have been completed.
In July, 29584 people logged on to the Maxton site, looking at 36757 pages. This is about the norm.
The Guestbook has been very quiet recently.
Spam through the site has been reduced to virtually nil by the filtering in operation.
Nothing to report.
Dave Wilkinson and Joe Eglinton, with their wives, Heather and Liz, visited Maxton on Saturday last to deliver the results of Dave's work on the history of the ship. He has compiled all the documents and photographs, from various sources, and put them on a disc, a copy of which he has left for our archives.
Dave and Joe keep in touch by watching the website and are willing to come to events which are at a time suitable for night shift workers, which both now are.

TV Licensing – request for confirmation that no showing or recording of TV is taking place as we do not have a licence. This was confirmed.
Date of Next Meeting
The next meeting of Maxton 21 will be held in Maxton Village Hall at 7.30pm on Monday 6th October.
