Maxton Meets - Walter Elliot

Walter will talk on "The New Minstrelsy of the Scottish Borders", his latest book, the idea for which came out of his visit to Maxton with Sheila Campbell in 2003.

Maxton Meets Grant Lees

Grant, Maxton born, is a clock repairer and restorer who now lives and works in Galashiels. He will give an illustrated talk on "Clocks and Clockmakers" concentrating especially on those from the local area.

Maxton Meets Emma Emmerson

Emma, from Floors Castle Garden Centre, will give a talk entitled:
"Plants What's in a Name?"

Maxton Meets Richard Smart

Richard will give an illustrated talk:
"My time with VSO in Ghana".
Richard, who is Principal teacher of Biology at Earlston High School, will also detail the ongoing project with which he and the school are involved.

Maxton Meets Mark Mulhern

Mark is a researcher with the European Ethnological Research, which is concerned with promoting research into Scottish life and publishing the results.
He is editor of the "Flashbacks" series, the latest of which tells the story of George "Celery" Taylor who went from Hownam to Kalamazoo, where he founded the celery industry.

Maxton Meets Isobel Gordon

Isobel, for this return visit to Maxton Meets, will give an illustrated talk entitled "Pests, Pestilence and the Perception of History".

All meetings are in Maxton Village Hall, starting at 7.30pm.
Admission is 1.50 (includes tea/coffee and biscuits)
