Previous Minutes
The minutes for the meeting held in January were accepted as correct.

Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer was unable to produce accounts due to delay in receiving the most recent bank statement.

Past Events
Burns Supper: The low numbers had been an issue but the evening had been enjoyable. As next year is the 250th anniversary of Burns’ birth it was suggested we think of inviting a speaker and also start planning it towards the end of this year.

Maxton Meets: Oliver Eade’s talk was well attended and much appreciated.

Future Events
· 11th February - Maxton Meets – Penny Davies is now hopeful of being able to come, although there is a ‘reserve’ if she has to cancel at the last minute. Paul offered to set up and do tea/coffee.

· 10th March - Maxton Meets Jim Paterson– Ron and Ann have offered to set up and do tea/coffee

· 15th March – Céili Naomh Pádraig – A St Patrick’s Ceilidh. Food, Quiz, Music with an Irish theme. Priscilla to ask if Jessica will dance. Rosi to decide on food and organize the cooks.
7.30pm. Tickets - £5 - to be booked in advance. Charlie to send details to Church Newsletter and Church Intimations.
Set up - midday on Sat. 15th.

· 17th March – AGM. 7.30pm.

· Concert - Isobel reported that Tom had been in touch with ‘Real Time’ who are interested in doing a concert in April to promote their new CD. They would take 80% of the door money and the rest would go to Maxton 21. It was suggested Saturday 5th April might be a suitable date – to be confirmed.

Hall Report
Douglas intimated that Jimmy and Thomson would be attending the next meeting of the Central Borders Federation of Village Halls and would find out the result of the grant application to progress the work on the toilets and hallway.

Jimmy indicated that one of the electric Jug Kettles was leaking. Paul said he would check with Ron regarding the guarantee, and either get it replaced or buy a new one.

The problem with rain coming in some windows has been reported to SBC.

Web Site
A new system of recording the number of hits has been introduced and the stats it is coming up with are not making sense.
There has been a problem with messages to the web site not getting through to the right place. This seems to have been remedied.

Neighbourhood Watch
Nothing to report.

HMS MAXTON
Nothing to report.

Any Other Business

· Priscilla read out a thank you letter from Liz and David Grieve re the Hogmanay Ceilidh which they and the two friends who were with them had greatly enjoyed.
· Elvira suggested that the heaters should be kept on during the Maxton Meets talks as at the last MM those in the audience had been cold. This was accepted.
· Paul intimated that he would be resigning as chairperson at the AGM.

Date of next meeting

The next meeting of Maxton 21 will also be the AGM and will take place on Monday 17th March 2008 in Maxton Village Hall at 7:30pm.
