Neighbourhood Watch
Nothing to report
HMS Maxton
Charlie had received a Christmas card from Dave and Heather Wilkinson who have visited Maxton on a number of occasions representing HMS Maxton.
Any Other Business
· Charlie had followed up the decision of some months back to frame a cover of the book ‘The New Minstrelsy of the Scottish Border 1805-2005’ in which Walter Elliot indicates that the inspiration for the book came from the talk he gave in Maxton hall as part of ‘Maxton Meets’. The cover with a signed note from Walter is now hanging up in the hall for all to see. The framing was financed by the ‘Book Fund’. Charlie also said that Walter had offered to come and give a talk in Maxton about the book and it was agreed to invite him as the first speaker in the next series of Maxton Meets.
· Priscilla reported that Mrs J Boa had been delighted to receive the gift of the ‘Maxton 2000’ book and had sent a £10 donation for a Maxton charity. It was decided to give this to BAGGS.
· With regard to the need to find a new Treasurer, Isobel offered to take on the position, although indicating that because of work she was not free during the day. It was suggested that others could help with going to the bank if necessary. The group accepted Isobel’s offer with grateful thanks.
· Isobel informed the meeting that it had been brought to the attention of the Community Council by PC Begg that there was suspected Drug Dealing being carried out on the back roads around Maxton. PC Begg asked that the registration numbers of any suspicious cars should be noted and reported.
Date of next meeting
The next meeting of Maxton 21 will take place on Monday 7th January 2008 in the Village Hall starting at 7:30pm.
Everyone is welcome.
