Hogmanay at Maxton Village Hall

Maxton sees in the New Year

Despite the best efforts of the weather, a crowd of over fifty joined together in the village hall on Sunday night to see in the New Year. As ever, Steve Kendall provided the musical entertainment for the willing dancers. We were pleased to welcome back Jessica Bennett, who again proved
her multiple talents by playing two saxophone pieces and dancing a Scottish reel and a Sailor's Hornpipe (though not at the same time!). Thanks Jessica.

A raffle for Borders Talking Newspaper raised 63 which was included in the earlier cheque presentation that day.

I would like to thank everyone involved in this years Hogmanay - for setting up the hall, providing the supper, donating raffle prizes and for clearing up after the event. Special thanks to Steve Kendall without whom a lot of people would look silly dancing in silence!

A very happy and peaceful 2007 to you all.

Paul
