Shona Mooney Trio Friday 1st December 2006
What better way to start the festive season! It may have been cold and wet outside, but inside the village hall the audience were treated to a fantastic evening of fiddle, guitar and bass music to warm the Winter chills.
Shona Mooney, herself a Maxton resident until some fifteen years ago was joined on guitar by Ian Stephenson and on bass by David de la Haye to produce some varied and beautiful pieces of music ranging from rip roaring border and Northumberland tunes to slow airs and self composed pieces.
Shona proved time after time why she won Radio Scotland's Young Traditional Musician of the Year, and with the accompaniment of the very talented Ian and David, they made it a night that will live long in the memory of everyone who attended.
The proceeds of the raffle and refreshments amounted to £49, which will go to the Maxton 21 Charity for 2006 "The Borders Talking Newspaper".
