WARNING TO ELDERLY RESIDENTS - BOGUS CALLERS
Following recent incidents involving a woman and a man in their nineties, who bogus callers attempted to defraud in Galashiels and Earlston, we are urging the public to be vigilant.
Always be wary of unexpected callers who attend your home claiming that you need maintenance work or repairs to the property.
Remember that you are under no obligation to agree to this, or let anyone you don't know onto your property or into your home.
If they persist, or you are made to feel intimidated or pressured, please call a trusted friend, neighbour, relative or contact police.
If you have elderly or vulnerable friends, neighbours or relatives please pass this warning onto them and keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour around their homes.
