The Parish of Maxton

The Parish of Maxton, in Roxburghshire, adjoins the Parishes of St Boswells on the west, Roxburgh on the east and south and is bounded by the River Tweed on the north. The A699 runs through the Parish from west to east, and the A68 acts as a western boundary. This section of the A68 follows very closely the line of the Roman Road known as Dere Street or Watling Street.

The long distance walk from Melrose to Holy Island - St Cuthbert's Way - comes through the western part of the Parish.
