Bowden& Midlem Grieve's - cousins of Robert Grieve Rugby player.

Very interesting piece written about Robert Grieve, Rugby player who lived in your village whose Grandfather came from Bowden where my Grieve descendant came from not been easy.
Sports seem to be the thing that the Grieve's inherited. Three brothers played cricket for Selkirk, sadly two died during the 1st world war. Another Rugby player Doug Davis I believe played for Scotland descends from the Grieve's. Even my own father played not for Scotland but the RAF.

Another thing I found out about the Grieve's of Bowden they had a running dispute with the Duke of Roxburgh for over a hundred years about a peat moss.
